TL;DR

SG Mini are more comfortable and better suited to smaller ears. They offer a better fit and are generally a better choice for calls than Ultimate V6s.

The V6s, on the other hand, are compatible with wireless charging and have a 7-hour battery life (compared with 5 hours for the Mini). They also offer slightly better sound quality than the SG Mini, and are more effective at blocking out ambient noise.

The choice between V6 and SG Mini earphones depends on use and personal preference.

Size

  • While the Ultimate V6 are suitable for most people, if you have small ear canals and have trouble finding earbuds that fit, the SG Mini are a great option.
  • If you're looking for lightweight, subtle and delicate earbuds, the SG Mini are for you.
  • If you have large hands and prefer a sturdier option, the Ultimate V6s are likely a better choice.

Fit

  • For most of our customers, the V6s fit really well. They can be inserted with a twisting motion, as if screwing them into the ears. However, those with exceptionally small or large ears may experience difficulty with the fit.
  • The SG Mini, on the other hand, fits exceptionally well for almost everyone. With their small silicone hooks, you can do cartwheels and any yoga position with your head in all directions, and the SG Mini will stay securely in place without any issues! Overall, the SG Mini surpasses the V6 in terms of fit.

Sound quality

  • Let's start by mentioning that ear tips play a major role in sound perception. If you find that there's a lack of bass, it's usually because the ear tips are too small and don't seal your ears well enough. The SG Mini were designed for sports and allow a little ambient noise to pass through, which can sometimes (depending on ear type) reduce the depth of the bass. For people with "regular" size ears, we recommend trying the Ultimate V6 ear tips ear tips on both models and see which you prefer based on your use. For smaller ears, the V6 ear tips usually make only a marginal difference.
  • Overall, the Ultimate V6s offer better definition across all frequency ranges, with richer, more dynamic sound and punchier bass. The difference between the Mini and the V6 is not major for the average person, whereas an audiophile might say that the difference is significant.

Noise cancellation

  • The V6s are so good at blocking out ambient noise that it would be virtually pointless to add an active noise cancellation (ANC) function. Their plug shape, which adapts very well to the shape of your ears, seals them in very effectively and cuts you off from the rest of the world. The SG Mini, on the other hand, let a little sound through, to keep you aware of your surroundings. Again, the SG Mini 's noise cancellation can be enhanced with Ultimate V6 ear tips. The result won't be as striking as with the V6s, but not far off!

Comfort

  • For some people, especially those with small ears, the V6 can be uncomfortable (like most in-ear earbuds). However, for those with "regular" sized ears, the V6 are comfortable. Regardless, the SG Mini are the champions of comfort in all cases. We have customers who couldn’t tolerate any pair of in-ear earbuds except the SG Mini. If comfort is your top priority, the SG Mini are undoubtedly the best choice.

Calls

  • While the Ultimate V6s deliver clear communication, they have the drawback of capturing ambient noise, which can be unpleasant for the person on the other end. In a quiet environment, the V6s perform very well. The SG Mini, on the other hand, are less likely to pick up ambient noise and are generally better for calls. Although the V6s may offer a better experience in a quiet setting, the Mini adapt better to all situations. If you intend to use your earbuds for frequent calls in various environments, the Mini would be a better choice.

Sleep

  • If you're looking for earbuds to use while sleeping in direct contact with the pillow, the SG Mini format is ideal. If you want to block out more ambient noise while sleeping, we suggest adding theUltimate V6 ear tips to your purchase, as they are also compatible with SG Mini. The difference between the Mini and V6 ear tips will be felt more or less depending on your ear type. Smaller ears will notice less difference, while for some ears, the difference is very noticeable.

Battery life

  • The Mini offer 5h of music listening or 4h of calling. The V6s offer 7h of music listening or 5h of calling. The charging case fully charged offers 4 extra recharges in both cases. The SG Mini's small size means that it cannot accommodate a larger battery for longer autonomy.

Wireless charging

  • Only the V6  are compatible with wireless charging.

Codecs

  • In addition to AAC and SBC codecs, the Ultimate V6, unlike the Mini, offers the aptX Adaptive codec. Please note that to enjoy the performance of the aptX Adaptive codec, you need a codec-compatible device.

Water resistance

  • The V6s have an IPX5 rating (able to withstand sustained low-pressure water jets, but not recommended for shower use). The Mini have an IPX4 rating (resistant to splashing water from all directions).
